Externship

The Girls Into VC Externship Program connects female startup founders with talented members seeking hands-on experience. Founders gain dedicated support on key projects, while externs develop real-world skills, expand their networks, and build meaningful relationships in the startup ecosystem.

Case Study: Wear Opal

Context: Wear Opal is a personal safety startup founded by Jen Chiang, offering a smart ring that discreetly connects to smartphones via Bluetooth to trigger alerts and ensure user safety. Preparing for its June launch, Wear Opal sought externship support for market research, exit strategy development, comparable analysis, and investor outreach.

Founder Perspective

“It's been an amazing experience working with our extern, Thalia, who has been a star ⭐. She was always so dedicated to the project and consistently produced high-quality work in market research and analysis. I was also so impressed by the Girls Into VC team—their professionalism and the structure they created made the experience seamless. Thank you, Thalia and the Girls Into VC team, for having us as part of the program!”

Extern Perspective

I am beyond grateful to have been a part of the Girls Into VC externship. It was amazing to gain hands-on experience with a promising startup, immerse myself in a professional learning setting, and provide valuable work to Opal’s CEO, Jen Chiang. Thanks to Girls Into VC and Jen, I have a better understanding of what VC is, how it works, and I had the privilege to expand my community while supporting Jen in her endeavors.”

Thalia Greenberg, Extern

My externship gave me an amazing behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to build a startup. I really enjoyed learning from the founder and seeing how she approached real-world challenges with so much thoughtfulness and care. It was my first real exposure to the startup world, and it played such an important role in shaping who I am today.
